Gabriela Perez,
Explorers Coordinator
Gabriela Perez (she/her/hers), born in Berkeley, raised and rooted in Richmond, Gabriela joined YES in April 2023 in the role of the Explorers Coordinator. After working administrative roles for 5 years, her soul craved a deeper connection to work that would make a difference. When her son turned 2 years old, she started volunteering at his preschool, the Early Learning Center at Contra Costa College. This experience led her to pursue an A.S. in Early Childhood Development.
Shortly thereafter, Gabriela became a Program Coordinator with Playworks and worked at a local WCCUSD elementary school. It was there that she found her passion and her calling. Working with youth and in the community she grew up in, fulfilled her heart. Her involvement in the community continued to deepen as she volunteered for various non-profits and community events, including YES Nature to Neighborhoods. She is extremely honored to officially be part of the YES team and community!
